Mediation / Arbitration

Wilson, Heyward, & Reeser, LLC provides vital litigation and conflict resolution services to clients throughout the state, while concentrating primarily in the low country and midlands. We represent all parties before various levels of the state, federal and appellate judiciary, whether seeking compensation or damages, or defending against a civil suit. Our clients include individuals, national retailers, banks, contractors, small businesses and insurance companies.

Conflict resolution, either through mediation or arbitration, is often the preferred focus before formally pursuing litigation, and became a cornerstone of the practice soon after it started in 1998. Chosen by counsel on each side of a conflict, attorney Bo Wilson has served the legal community as a mediator and arbitrator in thousands of cases successfully. Also, as a direct advocate of a party in the mediation process, he and Brandon Reeser have skillfully represented clients in hundreds more such cases.

Mr. Wilson served as counsel for the Town of James Island from its inception through four administrations and currently is filling that role in the fifth. He also is counsel for the Board of Zoning Appeals. He also serves as counsel for the James Island Charter High School and advises other local charter schools.

Attorney Brandon T. Reeser, an honor graduate of Emory University School of Law, joined the firm in 2014, and focuses primarily on construction litigation (both plaintiff and defense) and other premises liability disputes.

With an office in Salley, South Carolina,- equidistant from Lexington, Orangeburg and Aiken– we provide even better service and greater convenience for all of our clients.

Alternative Dispute Resolution

The essence of alternative dispute resolution is a consensual agreement between all parties to resolve a dispute outside the courtroom, saving both time and money and avoiding risks inherent in the jury trial system. Mediation is now court-ordered in most cases and often resolves a case more efficiently, creatively, and quickly than the typical trial process. In addition, many commercial enterprises require arbitration when a legal dispute arises. Our attorneys approach mediations or arbitrations with the same focus and determination as trial work to negotiate the best result possible for our clients. In addition, attorney Bo Wilson is a court-certified mediator– much in demand– and has served as such for over two thousand cases.  He also serves as an arbitrator and summary trial judge.

Civil Litigation

Beyond alternative dispute resolution, civil litigation is at the heart of our firm’s practice as we skillfully and successfully pursue and defend claims on behalf our clients in a wide range of circumstances.  Our skill set and practice areas include personal injury, construction disputes, insurance defense, insurance coverage and bad faith claims, premises liability, collections, contracts, municipal, and business and lease disputes.

Municipal / Education / Public

Attorney Bo Wilson has served for many years as the attorney for the Town of James Island and for its Board of Zoning Appeals, representing the Town both in pursuit and defense of claims in numerous instances. This practice incorporates most aspects of municipal governance, including land use, zoning, annexation, taxation, voting, and Freedom of Information Act issues.

Mr. Wilson also is counsel for several charter schools of all grade levels and advises on a wide variety of school-related matters, including contract and employment matters, student well-being, state and federal compliance issues, and disciplinary cases.
